Sometimes our personal life affects us at work, as much as we may not want it to. We don't stop grieving during the commute, whether in the car or from the couch to the desk at home.
Some signs of grief at work include:
Socially withdrawn
Frequent illness
Tardiness
Depression
Crying when angry
Indecisiveness
Confusion
Lack of energy
Inability to concentrate
Apathy
Anxiety
Forgetfulness
Lack of motivation
Loss is a part of life and grief is experienced even when someone hasn't died. If someone you work with is displaying some of the above symptoms, consider having a gentle conversation with them about whether or not they are struggling with grief.
